Hervé Gastinel, global CEO for Ponant, was guest of honour at a morning tea for media in the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters in North Sydney on Tuesday.

The occasion was to celebrate the company’s 35th anniversary and its best ever quarterly results in Q1 2023.

Gastinel said Australia had contributed 20.7% of sales, making it the third largest source market.

Details on new sailing vessel to come

He also said the 14th ship in Ponant’s fleet will be a sailing vessel, like Le Ponant, and that full details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Gastinel is on a 12-day trip to Australia which has included sailing around the Kimberley between Broome and Wyndham aboard the fully refurbished 32-passenger Le Ponant with APAC Chairman Sarina Bratton.

Road shows

Next month Ponant will host road shows in Sydney (June 5), Melbourne (June 7), Adelaide (June 8), Brisbane (June 13) and Perth (June 15).
