The season will include new excursions and amenities exclusive to Ultramarine and Quark Expeditions.

‘For example’, said Andrew White, president of Quark Expedition, ‘we will go further into Greenland’s remote wilderness than ever before, to enjoy a wide range of new adventure options and wilderness experiences including heli-hiking, alpine kayaking, mountain biking and an authentic Greenland camp experience.’

In keeping with Quark Expeditions’ Polar Promise sustainability framework, Ultramarine will include technical features that will minimize the ship’s environmental footprint to an extent previously unseen for a vessel of this size, claims Quark.

Optimized fuel, water, provisioning and waste-handling systems will enable a 70-day operational range.

New itineraries for Arctic 2021 made possible by Ultramarine’s capabilities include Greenland; Arctic Canada: and Northwest Passage to Ellesmere and Axel Heiberg Islands.

Twin-engine helicopters

Boasting two twin-engine helicopters onboard excersions will include  heli-hiking, heli-landing, flightseeing, alpine kayaking and an ice sheet experience.

Ultramarine will also house twenty Zodiacs in a hangar close to the waterline, allowing speedy accessibility from two passenger ready rooms.

Supported by a multichannel marketing campaign called, Q the Adventure, Ultramarine joins Ocean Adventurer in a season that will feature a wide range of destinations including Spitsbergen, Greenland, Iceland, Canada’s Northwest Passage and Russia’s high Arctic.
