The 264-passenger Seabourn Pursuit will operate six 10-day voyages between Darwin and Broome from June to August.

As previously reported, the ship’s naming ceremony will take place during a voyage that departs Broome on June 22.

Aboriginal godparents

Godparents are the Wunambal Gaambera people, traditional owners of the far north Kimberley, who will meet the ship on June 29 when she calls at Vansittart Bay.

Passengers will go ashore in tenders for the ceremony and to view ancient rock art.

Seabourn, the first cruise line to appoint Australian Aboriginal traditional owners as godparents, is making a donation to develop a self-sustaining industry for the local people to sell their arts and crafts.

Luxury expedition

A spokesperson for Seabourn, which has had a dedicated sales and reservations office in the Sydney headquarters of Carnival Australia since 2011, said passengers during the Kimberley season have the adventure of sailing in an expedition ship, with all the luxuries of living at sea with Seabourn.
