Silversea Cruises outlined itineraries for its new Silver Endeavour from May 2023 through March 2024, spanning Northern Europe, the Arctic and Antarctica.
September 28, 2022
Included in the expedition ship's program are 24 maiden calls for Silversea including the Canadian High Arctic's Hudson Bay and Ellesmere Island.
The 25 immersive expedition voyages range from six days to 18 days. The Polar Class 6 Silver Endeavour will journey deep into the polar regions, accessing 116 destinations.
Silver Endeavour will spend summer 2023 exploring the British Isles, Iceland and the Arctic, including Greenland, Svalbard and the Canadian Arctic. The ship will then journey south, returning to Antarctica for the 2023/24 austral season.
British Isles and Iceland
Departing from London on May 7, 2023, Silver Endeavour will undertake two British Isles and Iceland expeditions of 13 and 14 days. New destinations include Stranraer, Helensburgh, Loch Eynort (Uist Island) and Klaksvik.
Arctic and Greenland
The Arctic season will feature two 14-day Iceland and Svalbard expeditions, departing June 3 from Reykjavik and June 17 from Tromsø. The ship then will offer three expeditions to South Greenland and Nunavut, Canada, exploring scenic regions including Skjoldungen, Evighedsfjord and Prince Christian Sound.
On July 31, a 10-day West Greenland expedition promises to immerse travelers in the culture and tradition of the Inuit and Greenlandic communities, and gives access to one of the world's fastest-moving glaciers at Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Canadian High Arctic
On Aug. 10, Silver Endeavour will sail from the hamlet of Mittimatalik (Pond Inlet) at the northern tip of Baffin Island in Nunavut on a 10-day journey through the Canadian High Arctic, exploring the seldom-seen shores of Ellesmere Island, Cape York and Qaanaaq, among other cultural and natural treasures. This trip will feature enhanced onboard enrichment and programming.
East Greenland
Rounding the Arctic season, Silver Endeavour will undertake a 16-day expedition through East Greenland from Sept. 5, 2023, searching for the perfect conditions to view the northern lights. The trip includes an extended three-day stay in Scoresby Sund, one of the world’s largest and longest fjord systems, and a visit to the world’s largest and rarely visited national park, the Northeast Greenland National Park.
Passengers may combine five of Silver Endeavour’s Arctic voyages to discover the region over 82 days, from July 1 to Sept. 21, 2023, beginning and ending in Reykjavik.
14 Antarctica voyages
The ship will operate 14 Antarctica voyages in the 2023/24 season.
Nine of them are six-day Antarctica Bridge fly-cruises that enable travelers to skip the Drake Passage, flying directly to King George Island in European business-class comfort to embark the ship.
Silver Endeavour will also offer two departures of a 10-day Antarctic Peninsula expedition, exploring the South Shetland Islands, the Antarctic Sound and Cape Horn.
Enabled by the ship’s PC6 classification, Silver Endeavour will journey deeper with longer explorations, including an 18-day voyage to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands departing Oct. 31, 2023.
In 2024, the ship will also sail two new 15- and 16-day expeditions, departing Jan. 28 and Feb. 12, exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. With an inbound/outbound flight between King George Island and Puerto Williams, Chile, travelers on these two voyages will cross the Drake Passage only once.
