Swan Hellenic’s SH Minerva left Helsinki today bound for Ushuaia, Argentina, ahead of its New Year maiden Antarctica cruise commencing December 29.

Capt. Tuomo Leskinen and Hotel Director Philipp Reutener head up the 10-day sailing from Argentina, which will explore the wildlife of the peninsula and Shetland Islands with expedition leader Pablo Brandeman, polar historian expert Dmitry Kiselev and ornithologist Andy Bunten on board.

Naming ceremony

SH Minerva was delivered December 3 after being christened at Helsinki Shipyard on November 23. It sailed through the Kiel Canal December 6.

Sister ship SH Vega and the slightly larger, unnamed NB518 are now also under construction in Helsinki.
