A spokesperson for Albatros said the line is ‘the only Antarctic operator to complete an uninterrupted season,’ adding, ‘of course it was not without difficulties and complications, but with our team's hard work and determination, we have managed the sudden changes that COVID-19 has forced on our industry in the past six months…

‘While we also had positive cases onboard Ocean Victory, we managed to keep it on a level that did not require quarantining our vessel. By applying strict safety protocols, isolating, and keeping the risk of further infections to a minimum, we did not have to cancel any of our departures.’

Safety measures

Rules on vaccination, face masks, quarantining through the Drake Passage and limiting the size of passenger groups were among measures imposed during the charter voyages.

2022 & 2023

Ocean Atlantic will venture into the polar regions once again to explore the islands of the North Atlantic during the Arctic 2022 season.

The sister ship of Ocean Victory, Ocean Albatros, joins the Albatros fleet in May 2023. It will sail Arctic and Antarctic itineraries from next year.
