The incident, which led to a power outage, occurred as the ship made its way from Norway to the UK, prompting a redirect to Germany.

Maud was moved to Bredo shipyard, Bremerhaven on December 27.

Cancelled voyages

The January 6 and 20 14-night Norway voyages from Amsteram were cancelled.

‘The ship has been temporarily moved to the Bredo shipyard ... where we are undertaking additional assessments and conducting immediate repairs ahead of further voyages,' an HX spokesperson said.

Repair work

The cruise line plans to update passengers should any amends be taken to post-January sailings. The spokesperson added, ‘Currently, our expert technical team are working with specialised suppliers and contractors to arrange repairs to the bridge, due to saltwater ingress.

‘Additionally, a small number of internal guest spaces have received minor damage.

‘The majority of the ship, including the engine room and hull, remains undamaged and fully operational.’

HX contacted affected passengers directly and detailed the alternative options available.
