Gus Antorcha has returned to Carnival Cruise Line as chief operating officer.

Short SeaWorld stint

Antorcha came back after a short stint as CEO of SeaWorld Entertainment, a position he started in February.

‘We are pleased to welcome Gus back to Carnival. His leadership and knowledge of the business are tremendous assets as we get ready for exciting growth in our fleet, port development and destinations,’ Carnival said in a statement.

More than eight years with Carnival

The company had never filled the COO role after Antorcha left. He moved up to the position in November 2017, capping more than eight years at Carnival. Responsibilities include oversight of hotel operations, port operations, guest care, shipboard recruiting, travel operations, newbuilds and refurbishments, along with a shared services function for both the marine and hotel operations groups.

Earlier jobs included EVP guest shipboard operations and SVP guest operations and services. Antorcha started at Carnival as SVP guest commerce, a new role, in April 2010 after a dozen years with the Boston Consulting Group, ultimately as a partner and managing director.
