Del Rio bowed out with $12.4m in 2023, Sommer's compensation was $8.8m

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' former president and CEO, Frank Del Rio, received compensation valued at $12.37m in 2023, while the package for his successor, Harry Sommer, was worth $8.86m.

In 2023 NCLH returned to a profit for the first time since 2019, with adjusted earnings per share of 70 cents on revenues of $8.5b, a 32% increase from 2019.

Frank Del Rio

Del Rio's 2022 compensation was valued at $21.2m. He retired last year, effective June 30, but continued as a consultant. His half-year salary was $1m, and Del Rio received a $9m bonus and $2,372,976 in 'other compensation,' including $2m for consulting plus items such as a car allowance, executive medical plan premium, accrued vacation payout, $100,000 travel expense allowance, tax preparation service and a $20,000 country club allowance.

Harry Sommer

Sommer, who started his new corporate role July 1, saw his compensation nearly double from the $4.65m in 2022 when he was president/CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. 2023 salary was just over $1m, and he was entitled to a $1m retention bonus. Stock awards were worth $5.22m, and Sommer received a $1.57m bonus and 'other compensation' of $66,236 including a car allowance, executive medical plan premium and home security enhancements.

Patrik Dahlgren

Patrik Dahlgren, who became EVP vessel operations in mid-2023, was among NCLH's named officers, with total compensation valued at $5.97m. This included $500,548 in salary, a $2.9m starting bonus, stock awards valued at nearly $2m, a bonus of almost $560,000 and 'other compensation' of $21,312.

Robin Lindsay

Dahlgren succeeded longtime EVP Vessel Operations Robin Lindsay, whose total compensation was worth $4.93m, including $900,000 in salary, a $1m retention bonus, stock awards worth nearly $2m and a $999,000 incentive bonus.

Lindsay was EVP vessel operations through June 11, then EVP newbuild and refurbishment through Aug. 27, when he transitioned to special advisor, a role to continue through 2024.

Mark Kempa

EVP and CFO Mark Kempa's compensation of nearly $4.94m was up from nearly $4.65m in 2022. HIs salary remained $900,000, he received a $1m retention bonus and stock awards were valued at nearly $2m. His incentive bonus pay went to $999,000, down from $1.8m the year before.

Dan Farkas

EVP/General Counsel Dan Farkas, who's also chief development officer and company secretary, joined the named officers with total compensation valued at $4.52m. That includes $700,000 in salary, a $1m retention bonus, stock awards valued at nearly $2m and a $777,000 incentive bonus.

David Herrera

Total compensation for David Herrera, who became NCL president/CEO in mid-2023, was worth $2.7m. This included $682,192 in salary, stock awards valued at $1.27m and a $705,231 bonus.

NCLH's annual shareholders meeting is set for June 13 at the Pullman Miami Airport Hotel.
