MedCruise wished the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the new Commission College great success in its five-year term, which began on December 1.

MedCruise said, ‘With cruise industries providing a valuable contribution to the local and national economies and contributing to Europe's social cohesion and prosperity, MedCruise strongly believes in the importance of initiatives advancing the essential conditions towards economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable growth of cruise activities.

‘It thus looks forward to working with the EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas – and several other members of the College and directorate generals involved in advancing a pan-European agenda that would facilitate investments, innovation, and other measures that would enhance sustainability.’

Ready to contribute

Riga said the association ‘would like to wish Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas every success.’

She added, ‘We are ready to contribute with our expertise to cruise-related initiatives that will support the pledge to make transport more competitive, sustainable, and smart and maintain Europe’s position as a global leader in cruise and maritime tourism, blending local traditions and social support with innovation, sustainability and, thus, competitiveness.’
