Coral Expeditions to grow with new investor support

The National Roads and Motorists Association (NRMA) has taken a minority stake in Coral Expeditions which will support the Cairns-based cruise line’s expansion plans.

The investment comes after Coral Expeditions implemented its SailSAFE plan and successfully resumed operations following the COVID-19 lockdown with cruises around the Great Barrier Reef and Tasmania.

New ship for Kimberley

It will begin new domestic deployments in South Australia this month, before its traditional Kimberley season in March. Its new vessel, Coral Geographer, a sister ship to Coral Adventurer, is due to arrive in time for the Kimberley season.

Perfect fit

‘We began discussions with NRMA last year and were struck by the fit between both organisations,’ Coral Expeditions Executive Director Paul Chacko said.

‘Both have long-term planning horizons, a guest and member-focused culture and significant customer demographic overlap,’ Chacko said.

‘This new partnership will allow Coral Expeditions to benefit from NRMA’s expertise, while continuing its journey to tap strong long-term demand for expedition cruising.'
