The pesto will be paired with artisanal trofie – a type of pasta from Liguria – creating the traditional dish 'trofie with pesto.' It can be ordered in the main restaurants of the two flagships, choosing from the premium options available on the menu for an additional fee.

It follows the announcement that Costa Toscana will operate a chocolate-dedicated cruise with manufacturer Callebaut in November.

Discovering Liguria through food

The collaboration will allow passengers, Italian and international, to discover Liguria through its cuisine.

Both Costa and Zeffirino have origins in Genoa, with the latter more than 75 years old.

The two ships visit Liguria every week.

Itineraries

Costa Toscana will visit Genoa every Friday throughout the year as part of a weeklong itinerary exploring Italy, France and Spain, which includes calls at Marseille, Barcelona, Cagliari, Naples and Civitavecchia (Rome).

Costa Smeralda will call at Savona every Saturday, following a weeklong itinerary in Italy, France and Spain, with calls at Marseille, Barcelona, Ibiza (Palma de Mallorca from September 12), Palermo and Civitavecchia.
