Princess Cruises adds vegan options, opens '360 Experience' to all
In response to what it called a 'surging demand for plant-based cuisine,' Princess Cruises is introducing a series of vegan menus.
October 2, 2023
The new choices are currently rolling out across the fleet of 15 ships.
Available for dinner in the main dining rooms
Princess said these menus fuse gourmet creativity and eco-consciousness, and offer an array of starters, salads, soups, pastas and main dishes. With these nightly menus served in the main dining rooms, passengers can request the vegan options before sailing via the Cruise Personalizer, through their travel advisor, by calling Princess or once on board.
'Our new plant-based dinner menus offer our vegan guests an extraordinary culinary journey while providing reassurance and peace of mind with dishes they know meet their lifestyle preferences,' said Sami Kohen, VP food and beverage.
Starters, salads, soups, pastas and mains
Among the starters are black beans on toast with tomato and avocado, roasted pears with dried apricots and pistachios and Baja-style cauliflower tacos. Salads include French potato salad with Dijon mustard and fine herb, green goddess salad with tofu and endive, beet and pear slaw.
Soups include creamy white bean, chickpea noodle and roasted eggplant and tomato. Among the pasta choices are fettuccine with walnut sauce, penne with red pepper pesto, and farfalle and summer squash with tomatoes, basil and pine nuts.
Mains include stir-fried portobellos with soy-maple sauce, plant-based shepherd's pie and walkaway ratatouille
360: An Extraordinary Experience
In other Princess dining news, beginning in mid-October '360: An Extraordinary Experience' will be open to any passenger sailing on Discovery Princess or Enchanted Princess, regardless of cabin type.
When introduced last year, the experience was available only to suite guests and included in their fare. Suite guests will still be invited to '360' at no charge.
$149 per person, space available
Others may book it for $149 per person, via guest services on board, similar to the way the Caymus Winemaker and Chef's Table are booked, and they will be added to the list based on availability.
