SES Networks claims speeds will be 'faster than most home broadband'
Unlimited, ultra-fast Wi-Fi on board Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady is to be provided by SES Networks.

According to SES, it means those on board the ship will be able to stream HD movies or game online without lag.

‘SES Networks offers us unique, reliable capabilities that rival land speed connectivity,’ said Andy Schwalb, chief marine and technology officer, Virgin Voyages.

‘This service has played a critical role in the success of our inaugural events last year, while also enabling our crew to remain connected and close to their loved ones during this challenging time.'

Simon Maher, vice president global sales, cruise maritime services at SES Networks, added, ‘Through our ultra-fast, low-latency connectivity, we’re able to empower Virgin Voyages’ sailors with ... Wi-Fi at sea that’s even faster than most home broadband.’

SES Networks’ Signature Cruise solution is an end-to-end service; the company said its next generation O3b mPOWER, when operational in 2022, will deliver multiple gigabits per second to any Virgin Voyages ship sailing anywhere on earth, during seasonal peaks as well as in high density areas.
