Multiple food and beverage experts will examine challenges and opportunities facing the cruise industry at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami, where an exciting announcement for the f&b community is set to be revealed.

In the last few years, limited production combined with logistical entanglements have featured where previously sustainably and locally sourced products were prioritised. Discussing this and more during the ‘CLIA Cruise Line’s Food & Beverage Sourcing & Supply Chain Current State - Challenges & Opportunities’ on April 27 will be Tami Blanco, VP strategic sourcing & site services, Carnival Cruise Line, Kasper Diaz Sommer, global head of marine logistics, Blue Water, Paolo Raia, MD, f&b division, MSC, Michelle Solorzano, VP, f&b supply chain management, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Jim Wells, SVP, chief supply chain officer, Royal Caribbean Group and Jeff Gilkerson (moderator) principal, sourcing & procurement transformation, The Hackett Group.

CLIA cruise line culinary professionals will also share their ‘secret ingredient’: the knowledge of how to deliver award winning culinary experiences for passengers when ingredients are often hard to come by in ‘The Chef’s Secret Sauce: An Inside View From Top CLIA Cruise Line Culinary Professionals.’

On the same day, a major announcement for the f&b community will be held at 1pm at the Promenade.

‘Trends in the Consumer Beverage Industry’ delivered by Brian Horne, VP, 3 Daughters Brewing takes place on April 26. A senior executive with a 25+ year background in brand growth & development, brand acquisition and profitable P&L management, 3 Daughters Brewing has led record breaking sales growth, the biggest social media audience of any independent brewery in the state of Florida, extension into multiple international markets and the development of the largest sales and marketing team of any independent brewery in the state of Florida.

Other highlights include hearing Gabrielle Carrelli, sales manager cruise lines and duty free, MICHAEL J. DEVINE & ASSOCIATES talk wine trends and emerging markets.

Agricultural tech

Hands-on demonstrations, discussion on customised flavour profiles, sustainability and rapid growth cycles are a feature of ‘The Culinary Art & Science of Sustainable Agri-Tech’ moderated by Rick Welch, president, RMW Global Consulting. A Q&A and sign-ups for touring the local Agri-Tech facility follow the session.

Tasting breaks, chef insights and a networking reception

Tasting breaks, further chef insights and a culinary-focussed networking reception are set to take place at main f&b venue, the Promenade Stage.
