Cunard to bring in silent discos
Cunard will introduce silent discos to some of its late-night venues on selected evenings.
The concept involves partygoers wearing wireless headphones and dancing to music only audible to them. It allows for a customisable experience as passengers control their own volume and switch between channels to hear different music genres.
Partying in different locations
The silent discos will be held at Queen Mary 2’s G32 venue, which is the biggest of the fleet’s nightclubs where a live DJ and resident party band can typically be found. On board Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria, the discos will take place at the Yacht Club.
According to the cruise line, it will mean the nightclub proposition can also move out of the main venues and into more unexpected places - into the Grand Lobby or on deck, for instance, or other pop-up locations around the ship.
Immersive entertainment
David Jones, VP of marketing & sales at Cunard, said that ‘the introduction of silent discos to our nightclub venues reflects our commitment to offering immersive and contemporary experiences for guests.’
He added, ‘I’m sure some may be surprised to learn that our ships have nightclubs, let alone silent discos, and this is just one of the many unexpected experiences you’ll now find on a Cunard voyage.’
Evolving with the times
Jones remarked that the move will ensure Cunard remains ‘at the cutting edge of luxury travel.’ He remarked, ‘As a business, we have always been willing to embrace new trends and have continually adapted our offering to evolve with the times – it’s in our DNA and goes right back to our forebears launching the world’s first ocean liner in 1840.’
