Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has unveiled a new service that will see a team of celebrities document passengers’ special moments on board its ships in 2025.

The personalities include comedian-turned-artist Vic Reeves (Jim Moir), best-selling author Jenny Eclair and celebrity photographer Scarlet Page.

The move follows research by Fred. Olsen where 82% of people revealed their life’s top memories are made while travelling.

Sonia Holman, MD at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, explained, ‘We know that some of life’s best memories are made on the high seas, so what better way to ensure they are caught than by assembling the first-ever crew dedicated to recording these unique moments in unique ways.

‘We’re delighted to welcome Jim, Jenny and Scarlet onboard and look forward to seeing, reading and viewing the big and small guest moments they observe.’

Ballot for dedicated sessions

The 2025 cruises featuring each of the Fred. Olsen Moments Crew are now available to book online with passengers able to enter a ballot for the artistic, writing and photography services of the trio in dedicated sessions onboard.

Combination of skills

Reeves, who will put passengers’ favourite scenic views on canvas, will join the eight-night 'Scenic Fjords and Falls of Norway' cruise departing from Dover, UK on May 28. 'Some of my happiest memories are from travelling, so I am looking forward to stepping onboard with my easel and paints and capturing guests’ favourite views for prosperity,' he said.

‘Personally, I hope to see some spectacular scenery, dramatic waterfalls and interesting birds like auks, darters and maybe even some puffins, which are always a delight to paint.’

Prices start from £1,119 (was from £1,199) per person with Borealis calling at Haugesund, Bergen, Olden and Skjolden in Norway, before returning to Dover.

Eclair, tasked with turning memorable guest experiences into short stories, will join the 13-night 'Fairytale Castles and Old Towns of the Baltic' sailing. Balmoral will sail roundtrip from Rosyth in Edinburgh, Scotland, calling: Copenhagen, Denmark; Warnemünde (for tours to Schwerin Castle), Germany; Klaipėda, Lithuania; Riga, Latvia; Tallinn and Saaremaa, Estonia.

'There is a rich literary history of travel writing, but my intention is to get the everyday holiday maker interested in keeping their own journals...,' said the author. 'In years to come, photos will take you back to places you loved, but it is often words on a page that will remind you of how those places felt.'

The voyage gets underway on June 27 and prices start at £1,969 per person (formerly £2,099 per person).

Page will instead roam the ship taking photographs. She is set to join Bolette's 13-night 'Volcanic Vistas of the Azores and Madeira' cruise commencing July 25.

‘As a photographer of celebrities and rock stars, I have always loved capturing those rare, unguarded moments that reveal true emotion. I’m excited to bring this approach to documenting guests... I aim to capture every moment with artistry and authenticity,' she remarked.

In the Azores, the vessel will call at: Ponta Delgada, São Miguel; Horta, Faial; Praia da Vitória, Terceira. The ship will then set sail for Funchal, Madeira, Santa Cruz, La Palma, Canary Islands followed by Lisbon, Portugal.

Prices start from £1,869 per person (previously from £1,999 per person) with the ship sailing roundtrip from Liverpool, UK.
