Lübeck-Travemünde joins Cruise Baltic; Scandic Hotels extends strategic partnership

Says Barbara Schwartz, head of marketing, Lübeck Tourist Board: 'We are a boutique destination, ideal for welcoming the smaller vessels and are expecting 19 cruise calls and approximately 15,000 passengers in 2016, which is a small increase compared to 2015.'
 
There is a dedicated cruise terminal in the heart of Travemünde, two berths for the cruise ships and the town is within walking distance for passengers, with its shops, restaurants, cafes and beach. The distance to the Old Town of Lübeck - with its UNSECO World Heritage site - is 12km.
 
In welcoming new member  Lübeck,  Claus Bødker, director of Cruise Baltic also announced Scandic Hotels will continue as a strategic partner of Cruise Baltic, with a joint agreement for the additional period of 2016/2017. He confirmed all Cruise Baltic meetings over the next two years will continue to be held at a Scandic Hotel in the region.
 
Scandic has a network of 230 hotels and almost 42,000 rooms in seven countries.
 
'As well as in our traditional homeports such as Copenhagen and Stockholm, we see the cruise market as a long term investment across our region.  We continue to upgrade existing properties, as well as developing new products and destinations to cement our position as the leading chain in the Nordics and Baltic region,' commented Richard Stone, director, leisure sales, Scandic Hotels.
