MSC celebrates World Music Day

On World Music Day, June 21, MSC Cruises and UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, launched a new song performed by an Italian children’s choir called ‘I Can Believe – MSC for UNICEF’ to provide a soundtrack to all UNICEF awareness raising efforts on board MSC Cruises ships.

The song features lyrics in the six official languages onboard the MSC fleet (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish) and interpreted by the Antoniano di Bologna's Piccolo Coro ‘Mariele Ventre’ choir, under the direction of Sabrina Simoni. The lyrics were written by Angela Senatore and Antonella Boariani and the music composed by Sandro Comini.

World Music Day started in France in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique. Since then the idea has spread across the globe with each event sharing the same set of principles: that the day is held on the mid-summer solstice and that all concerts and events are free and accessible to the public. Since then the idea has spread to over 460 cities in 110 countries around the world.

MSC Cruises celebrated World Music Day by having special live music aboard its 12 ships, and related activities, plus a special range of cocktails and soft drinks, including the ‘Musical Groove’ cocktail.
