TV show going behind the scenes of Seven Seas Splendor airing tonight in the UK

The first in an eight-part documentary series showing life aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises vessels airs in the UK tonight at 9 on Channel 5.

The first to appear in ‘World’s Most Expensive Cruise Ship’ will be Seven Seas Splendor, with cameras following its inaugural Northern Europe season from Iceland to Norway and through the Norwegian Fjords, to Finland, Estonia and Copenhagen. The ship, which joined the Regent fleet in February 2020, then sails Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and the Canary Islands.

We’re delighted to see Seven Seas Splendor returning to our TV screens again this Friday on Channel 5,’ said Caroline Smith, MD, international, Regent Seven Seas Cruises. ‘The new eight-part series will give viewers at home a behind the scenes look at everything that goes into delivering an unrivalled experience on board the world’s most expensive cruise ship.

‘Our crew go above and beyond for our guests so being able to put them front and centre of this series has been a real pleasure.’

The vessel was recently shown on the television programme, ‘World’s Most Expensive Christmas Cruise,’ which aired on December 24.

Highlights

Highlights of the programme include:

F&B

Viewers will see food served to passengers, from a Spanish night complete with 48 different dishes to a lobster thermidor versus beef wellington competition in the galley.

Executive sous chef Kamlesh Koonjee can be observed leading his team to prepare a selection of 240 canapes as well as transform the pool deck for an al fresco BBQ in Stockholm, and passengers are shown pairing food with a selection of included wines from 11 different countries.

Seven Seas Splendor houses five restaurants and three bars and lounges.

Entertainment

Broadway choreographer Patti Willcox heads on board to check the cast production of Diamond Run is up to scratch.

The series will also follow a new entertainment team as they undergo extensive on board training ahead of their debut show Crossroads.

The entertainment team’s involvement in a vow renewal ceremony officiated by cruise director Franck Galzy is also shown. 

Shore excursions

Destination manager Roland Moonsamy will take requests for a bespoke, off-menu trip to mark a special occasion; over 150 excursions are included with every cruise.

Bridge

There will be a behind the scenes of the navigational bridge as capt. Felice Patruno, with experience of over 40 years at sea, hands over control to new captain, Luciano Montesanto.

The vessel is shown during its inaugural port call into Gibraltar.

The series, produced by ITN Productions, will air in the UK on Channel 5 at 9pm every Friday from January 27.
