This year’s season begins with ‘Notre-Dame,’ which was inspired by the fire that damaged the 860-year-old Notre-Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris) in 2019.

Scaffolding covering the top of the cathedral was removed this month and it will reopen on December 8.

Spectacular production

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra’s co-founder and artistic director, Paul Dyer, said that ‘Notre-Dame,’ which commemorates eight centuries of music performed within the cathedral, will be ‘one of the most spectacular productions the company has ever done.’

It opens at the Melbourne Recital Hall on February 22 and moves to the City Recital Hall in Sydney on February 27.

Reward for loyal passengers

Viking’s ANZ MD Michelle Black said the concerts provide an opportunity to reward loyal passengers and travel partners in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as at regional performances in New South Wales and Victoria.

Black said baroque music lovers on the company’s European river cruises have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of composers like Vivaldi, Handel and Bach, visiting cities where the great composers lived.

Ambitious goals

‘We are excited to welcome Viking as a major sponsor in 2024 to support the ambitious and innovative goals of our orchestra,’ MD and co-founder Bruce Applebaum said.

‘Our shared mission is to push the limits of experience, celebrate human creativity and challenge ideas amongst our audience of bold explorers,’ Applebaum said.
