SmartSea strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Kris Vedat as CTO.

Formerly head of technology and logistics at P&O Maritime Logistics, Vedat has more than 20 years of experience in the field of technology and logistics.

SmartSea CEO Julian Panter said of Vedat, '...Throughout his stellar career, his technological knowledge has been second to none. His in-depth industry knowledge will enhance our service proposition and position SmartSea as the partner of choice for those companies who embrace the opportunities of digitalisation.’

Powered by SITA, a global leader in technology solutions for the air transport industry, SmartSea provides a one-stop-shop for maritime technology solutions. Modules in its integrated maritime management platform range from crew management, planned maintenance and insurance to operations and inspections.

Digitalisation

Discussing the future of digitalisation and plans in his new role, Vedat commented, ‘We have to learn from the advances made in digitalisation within the aviation industry by SITA.

‘Everyone in maritime should be sharing data collectively, which should become a reality soon as new regulations lead to a shift towards data standardisation, as seen in other transport industries. This creates a prime opportunity for SmartSea to help the industry revolutionise how companies operate in future.’
