Capital Cruising and Viking Cruises marked the first direct and closest cruise call between the UK capitals – London and Edinburgh – under new management of the London Moorings anchorage.

The moorings in London on the River Thames are now managed as a joint venture with Capital Cruising and MBNA Thames Clippers and offering access to the city at both the Tower of London and Maritime Greenwich. The moorings are expected to welcome over 100 vessels during 2018.

At the anchorage in Newhaven, Viking Sea’s passengers visited the UNESCO City of Edinburgh. With the anchorage on the River Forth only three miles from the heart of the historic capital, guests are within easy reach of Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood.

Cruising into the heart of London and Edinburgh

Rob Mason, Head of Cruise for Capital Cruising in Scotland said: ‘This is a milestone for our cruise business as we welcome the Viking Sea to two capital cities. We have invested significantly over the past few years in our cruise business to provide the closest and most direct access for cruise ships to London and Edinburgh which are key attractions.’

Matt Grimes, itinerary development, nautical & technical operations for Viking Cruises said: ‘This is the third year that Viking has sailed between London and Edinburgh on our hugely popular Into the Midnight Sun itinerary.'
