Carnival Luminosa and its crew will now sail under the Bahamas flag
As part of its transition to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, Carnival Luminosa was officially registered today with the Bahamas Maritime Authority.

During the ceremony, Deck Cadet Mark Casson, a Bahamian citizen from Freeport, raised the Bahamian flag.

The vessel had most recently been under the Madeira flag.

Five other Bahamas-registered Fun Ships

'We’re proud and honored to have Carnival Luminosa join the five other ships we have registered in the Bahamas,' Carnival President Christine Duffy said. 'The BMA is among the most respected administrations in international shipping, and we value their level of cooperation and professionalism aimed to achieve the highest safety standards. This moment serves as a symbol of our ongoing commitment to this special country.'

Next seasonal home Brisbane

Currently at Palermo, Sicily, where it was handed over from Costa Cruises on Sept. 8, Carnival Luminosa will next set course for Dubai en route to its new seasonal home in Australia. It will sail varied itineraries from Brisbane Nov. 6 to April 13 before repositioning for seasonal service from Seattle to Alaska next May.
