2017 USPH inspection fee ranges up to $17,940 for a mega-ship
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published fiscal 2017 fees for Vessel Sanitation Program inspections.

The fees range from $1,495 for an extra-small ship (under 3,000gt) up to $17,940 for a mega-ship (120,001gt and larger).

The fees in between are $2,990 for a small ship (3,001gt to 15,000gt), $5,980 for a medium ship (15,001gt to 30,000gt), $8,970 for a large vessel (30,001gt to 60,000gt) and $11,960 for extra-large (60,001gt to 120,000gt).

The fees are effective October 2016 through Sept. 30, 2017.

Each passenger ship arriving from a foreign port is subject to twice-yearly unannounced US Public Health inspections and, when necessary, reinspection.

Vessel Sanitation Program officials look for insect, rodent or other vermin infestations and contaminated food or water, and inspect other sanitation conditions relating to the potential introduction, transmission or spread of communicable diseases.
