After fire repairs, Le Boréal expected to resume sailing May 24

Ponant's Le Boréal, undergoing repairs in Genoa following a November engine room fire near the Falkland Islands, is now scheduled to resume service May 24.

Previously the ship had been expected to first undertake a May 9 cruise from Lisbon.

In addition to repairs, the 2010-built Le Boréal will be adding the latest technical improvements that benefited subsequent sister ships.

As earlier reported here, Le Boréal was transported by a heavy lift vessel from South America to Genoa, arriving in February, and is at Ente Bacini dock number 3, temporarily managed by Fincantieri.

France's Bureau d’Enquetes et d’Analyses is investigating what caused the fire, which resulted in a power loss on the French-flagged ship. No injuries were reported but passengers were evacuated.
