AIDA helps flood-ravaged Philippines school

AIDA Cruises' Hansjörg Kunze, left, presents a check to the Reiner Meutsch Foundation FLY & HELP at the ITB Travel Trade Fair
AIDA Cruises is continuing its commitment to supporting social, cultural and charitable projects by providing €42,265 to the Reiner Meutsch Foundation FLY & HELP for the reconstruction of an elementary school in Dinagat, Philippines.

Severe floods destroyed many schools in the region in December.

The donation is part of the money raised from a charity raffle AIDA traditionally holds aboard the AIDA fleet on New Year's Eve.

'Many of our employees aboard the AIDA fleet come from the Philippines, so working with the Reiner Meutsch Foundation to provide direct help on the ground and give children the chance to attend school is a matter very close to our heart,' said Hansjörg Kunze, VP communication & sustainability said.

Since 2005, AIDA has supported various SOS-Children's Villages projects around the world, to the tune of more than €1m. Mercy Ships, which provides life-changing medical treatment in some of the world's neediest countries, is another of AIDA's several causes.
