In addition, a new bus company is providing cruisers with inexpensive transfers to the two airports and touristic points in the city.
All are efforts by Argentina's Ministry of Transport, through the ports administration, to benefit the cruise sector.
A passenger flow analysis by port staff and the Quinquela Martín Passenger Terminal concessionaire led to the easing of more than 100 choke points, making a more pleasant visitor experience.
The terminal's bar was renovated, and more space was added for passenger comfort. An ATM was installed, and a currency exchange service was opened. Signs are now in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
The new ArBus service was introduced as the official cruise transport under the Ministry of Transport for connections to Aeroparque Jorge Newberry and Ezeiza International Airport, Puerto Madero and touristic points in central Buenos Aires. ArBus offers inexpensive tickets on a modern, safety-equipped fleet with free Wi-Fi.
New bilingual (Spanish-English) pedestrian maps and signs, pedestrian crossings and traffic controls were put in place around the port area to improve safety and order.
For the first time at the Quinquela Martín Passenger Terminal, visitors are being welcomed with posters and signs that provide information about attractions and offerings in the city, such as BA Tours, BA Tour Bike, Urban Trekking and others. All of these are also available on the new BA Tourism app that can be used offline.
Ports administrator Gonzalo Mórtola expressed a commitment to enhance and improve services day by day.
'With common sense and a lot of empathy, we put ourselves on the side of every actor in the industry, especially the tourists and cruise passengers, who experience our country every time they visit our port,' he said.
