Carnival brand's name is (gradually) changing

Name change in progress for cruising's largest brand
For those who haven't noticed or thought it was just a style error, the cruise industry's largest brand by number of ships and passengers carried is changing its name.

Known as Carnival Cruise Lines since it began sailing with the Mardi Gras in 1972, the brand eventually will become Carnival Cruise Line—singular.

The change has not been announced but 'Carnival Cruise Line' has been cropping up in official communications this week.

That said, parent company Carnival Corp. & plc on Friday referred variously to 'Carnival Cruise Lines' in its financial results and 'Carnival Cruise Line' in its newbuild order release, so this doesn't seem to be a uniform, methodical process.

'This is a gradual change that is more closely tied to how Carnival Corporation & plc refers to its other brands,' a Carnival Cruise Line/Lines spokesman told Seatrade Insider.
