Caribbean yields turned positive for Carnival Corp. & plc on an 8% year-over-year capacity increase in the first quarter, and pricing is 'nicely higher' going forward, while pricing in Alaska is lower, also on 8% more capacity.

17 Carnival group ships up north

Carnival Corp. has 17 ships in Alaska this year.

In December guidance, the company had said pricing was in line with the prior year at lower bookings, but that was before wave season, when a substantial portion of the Alaska season is sold.

The lower pricing compares to 2018's record season, CFO David Bernstein said during the company's first quarter earnings call, adding: 'We feel good about the pricing for the various brands that we have up there.'
