China’s 10 cruise ports record further growth in 2016

China's busiest cruise port Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Shanghai’s Baoshan district recorded 509 calls in 2016
China has recorded higher figures across 10 cruise ports in 2016, reflecting the continued growth of the market.

The 10 ports – Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin, Yantai, Qingdao, Zhoushan, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Haikou and Sanya – welcomed 996 cruise calls in total last year, an increase of 58% over 2015.

Some 913 were home port calls, an increase of 69% year-on-year.

The 10 ports recorded 2.26m cruise passengers in total, a rise of 82% compared to 2015.

Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Shanghai’s Baoshan district remained the busiest cruise port, registering 509 calls, accounting for 51% of China's market share. Passengers numbered 1.47m, for a 65% market share.

The second busiest cruise port, Tianjin, saw 128 cruise calls and 357,831 passengers, 14.3% and 16.3% of market share, respectively.

Guangzhou, the third busiest cruise port, posted 104 calls and 162,984 passengers, accounting for 10.4% and 7.2% of market share, respectively.
