The route is 34.1km long and stops at five stations across the city, including Lianyungang, Yantuo, Lianyungang East, Xugou and Lianyun.
Total investment is around RMB610m and it will start operating in September this year.
Glory Sea cruises to Japan
Lianyungang is the first city in Jiangsu province to attract a homeporting cruise ship. Last year, Glory Sea (ex-Celesytal Odyssey) regularly sailed for Diamond Cruises from Lianyungang to Japan. 420-cabin Glory Sea was originally the innovative Olympic Explorer and built for Royal Olympic Cruises.
The port has one cruise berth and an international passenger terminal building designed to handle up to 480,000 passengers annually.
Tourism in Lianyungang has been rising in recent years but the road transportation between the port and city had not kept up with demand. The new shuttle train service aims to provide a better experience for cruise guests in transit.
