The new world expedition ship is on an 18-day sold-out maiden voyage through the Indonesian Archipelago tracing Dutch explorer Abel Tasman who mapped the coastlines of New Zealand, New Guinea and northern Australia in the 17th century.
Darwin awaits arrival
As reported previously, there will be a welcome ceremony in Darwin when Coral Adventurer arrives on May 12.
That evening she will sail on a 10-night ‘Wildlife and Warriors’ voyage through West Papua before returning to Darwin where she will operate a Kimberley season from May until October.
Guests enjoyed didgeridoo
At her christening in Singapore guests enjoyed Australian food and wine and were entertained by indigenous performer David Hudson who played the didgeridoo.
They were also taken on a sunset cruise to experience first-hand the new ship, which has an observation lounge located on the bridge and dual Xplorer tenders — both trademarks of Coral Expeditions.
Bright future
‘It has been a rewarding journey from the initial conception of Coral Adventurer to now seeing her embark on open waters,’ gm Mark Fifield said.
‘The future of Coral Adventurer is bright with unique itineraries planned to showcase her capabilities for extended expeditions in remote areas.’
