Costa celebrations to mark 70th anniversary of the Italian Republic
To mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic, Costa Cruises is staging a series of events on board its ships, which all fly the Tricolore, Italy’s national flag.

The line is hosting receptions in honour of the Festa della Repubblica, organized by the Italian embassies in Denmark and Norway, on board Costa Favolosa in Copenhagen Saturday and on Costa Pacifica in Oslo on May 30.

Celebrations in Copenhagen, in the presence of Italian Ambassador Stefano Queirolo Palmas and local government representatives, will highlight the Danish public's interest in travel to Italy while in Oslo, Costa Pacifica will welcome representatives from the main Italian brands operating in Norway. In attendance will be the Italian Ambassador Giorgio Novello, who will use the occasion to announce the start of a road show intended to support Italian excellence in Norway. The show will visit Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Bodø, Trondheim and Ålesund.

'The Italian Republic is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and we’re proud to be taking part in the commemorative events,' said Costa Cruises president Neil Palomba. 'We’re also proud to be global ambassadors for Italian excellence:  for 68 years our ships have offered hundreds of thousands of guests from all over the world only "Italy’s finest", a concept that is inextricably linked to our company’s roots and identity.'

He invited people to rediscover what Italy has to offer in terms of quality, style, hospitality and food and wine on the country's national day on June 2.

In addition to the upcoming events in Copenhagen and Oslo, Costa Cruises will celebrate June 2 fleetwide with a program incluing a menu inspired by the Tricolore, based on traditional recipes from different regions of Italy, as well as the playing of the national anthem.
