Costa donates 'pingers' to protect dolphins from fishing nets

Such alarms have been shown to reduce the accidental netting of cetaceans.

Costa's donation supports the work of CNR-Ismar, Italy's National Research Council – Institute of Marine Science.

The donation was announced aboard Costa Diadema during the line's Protagonisti del Mare (Champions of the Sea) cruise for top travel agent partners.

The symbol for Protagonisti del Mare is a dolphin, and dolphin trophies in the shape of Costa's iconic 'C' were presented to top-producing agents.

This was the 22nd edition of the event, and Costa donated 22 pingers
