The cruise business is important to Halifax and Nova Scotia, and Destination Halifax is actively involved in marketing the area to cruise visitors, noted Lynn Ledwidge, director of marketing, who has been participating at Seatrade Europe in Hamburg this week.
Ledwidge will work closely with Jefferson, who Destination Halifax chair Jeff Ransome said brings 'strong leadership skills and tourism expertise to Team Halifax.'
'It is a privilege to lead this talented team and to build on the strong reputation of the Destination Halifax brand,' Jefferson said.
In 2010, he led the development of Discover Saint John, where he commissioned the new agency and oversaw a team of professionals providing destination marketing services and marketing the region to national and international markets. Jefferson has also worked within the JD Irving group of companies and as general manager of the Saint John Waterfront Development Corp.
