Deutschland stays with Phoenix – at least for the next seven summers

Deutschland has new owners but winter and summer charterers remain the same
Bonn-based operator Phoenix Reisen has confirmed it extended the seasonal charter contract for Deutschland, the previous flagship of now-defunct Peter Deilmann Reederei, until January 2025.

The extension was sealed in context of a transfer of the ownership of Deutschland which was acquired by Delos Cruise during January.

With the new extension, Deutschland will operate under the Phoenix brand for the summer months for at least the next seven years.

Delos Cruise has also taken over the off-season charters to Semester at Sea during winter. Semester at Sea deploys the 1998-vessel as a floating campus under the name of World Odyssey.

Phoenix Reisen's md, Benjamin Krumpen, commented he was glad to see Deutschland remaining with the Phoenix' fleet.

He stressed the ship's operation will continue unchanged despite the ship's new ownership, with Sea Chefs remaining in charge of hotel operations.

This year, Phoenix Reisen will deploy Deutschland on ten itineraries between April 21 to September 3 including several longer cruises, including – as the season's opening itinerary – a voyage from Bremerhaven bound for the UK, the Azores, Madeira, Canaries, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands.

Cruises taking German guests from a German base port to the Atlantic Islands and back are extremely rare – mostly, Atlantic Islands itineraries including a German port are only offered 'one way' in the context of repositioning cruises between Northern Europe and the Med.
