Emerald Princess - takes Princess Cruises’ Australasian capacity to a record 11,800 berths across five ships
The 113,000gt Emerald Princess arrived in Sydney for the first time Tuesday as Princess Cruises' largest ship to come to Australia.

Emerald Princess will operate a 2016/17 extended cruise season from Sydney until April 2017, with round-trips to New Zealand, the South Pacific and Tasmania. She is taking Princess Cruises’ Australasian capacity to a record 11,800 berths across five ships during the season.

Princess has been operating an annual trans-Tasman season in Australia since 2003/04, which was operated by Star Princess. Sapphire Princess followed in 2004/05 and Diamond Princess operated the 2005/06 season. Sapphire Princess returned for the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons and Diamond Princess has been coming since 2008/09.

Stuart Allison, vp Australasia for Princess, hosted a media luncheon on board Emerald Princess to mark the arrival. The lunch showcased celebrity chef Curtis Stone’s SHARE restaurant, which has also been fitted to Sun Princess and Ruby Princess.

The specialty restaurant served superb small plates of charcuterie, salad, handmade pasta, premium meat and a decadent cheesecake.
