A steel-cutting ceremony for the fourth Royal-class ship for Princess Cruises was held at Fincantieri's Castellammare di Stabia shipyard.

This 143,700gt newbuild design follows sister ships Royal, Regal and Majestic Princess, and is scheduled for delivery in 2019.

The project signals the continuation of a 16-year partnership between Fincantieri and Princess.

'We are delighted with the longevity of our partnership with Fincantieri and know that this next ship will follow on the successful design platform demonstrated with her sister ships,' said Keith Taylor, evp fleet operations, Holland America Group.

The steel cut during the ceremony is for the bow section.
