Fincantieri floats out Carnival Panorama at Marghera

Carnival Cruise Line's third Vista-class ship, Carnival Panorama, was launched today at Fincantieri's Marghera yard.

Sister of Carnival Horizon and Carnival Vista

The 133,500gt vessel, scheduled for autumn 2019 delivery, follows 2018's Carnival Horizon, also from Marghera, and 2016's Carnival Vista, built at Monfalcone.

A silver dollar was welded into the hull as part of the launch ceremony, whose godmother was Antonella Cazzin, a Marghera employee for more than 35 years.

Carnival SVP newbuilds Ben Clement attended, along with Marco Scaramuccia, Carnival Panorama project manager, while Fincantieri's representation was led by Antonio Quintano, director of the Marghera yard.

California bound

When Carnival Panorama debuts in Long Beach, California, in December 2019, it will introduce the first indoor trampoline park and challenge zone at sea, in partnership with Sky Zone. A flora representation of the ship is also being created for the New Year's Day Rose Parade in Pasadena.

In addition to Carnival Panorama, the Marghera shipyard is building the second ship for the Costa Asia brand, set for 2020 delivery, and the third Pinnacle-class vessel for Holland America Line, due in 2021.
