Seabourn president Rick Meadows was on hand as Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente cut steel for his company's second newbuild, Seabourn Ovation. It's the sister of this year's Seabourn Encore, under construction in Marghera.

Seabourn Ovation is scheduled to join the fleet in spring 2018. At 41,000gt, the all-veranda-suite ship will carry just 600 passengers.

Also on hand for the steel-cutting was shipyard director Raffaele Davassi.

Fincantieri has built 73 cruise ships since 1990, 61 of them for Carnival Corp. & plc brands.
