Kanesville Queen, a former gaming vessel built in 1995, has been cut in half at Gulf Island Shipyard in Houma, Louisiana, in preparation for the addition of a midsection to create the new riverboat American Countess.

60-foot midsection

A 60-foot midsection will be added to construct the 245-passenger paddlewheeler, the fourth boat in American Queen Steamboat Co.'s fleet.

Nearly 150 skilled workers are currently involved in the project.

Delivery date to be announced

A delivery date for American Countess to join American Queen, American Duchess and American Empress will be announced in the coming months.
