Columbus passenger Mr. Mitford, center, received a festive welcome to Hamburg as the year's 800,000th cruiser
Cruise Gate Hamburg and the Hamburg Cruise Net jointly welcomed this year's 800,000th cruise passenger with a gift package.

A Mr. Milford, traveling on Columbus, operating for Cruise & Maritime Voyages, was greeted by a local shanty choir and presented a gift package including an overnight stay in the Atlantic Kempinski Hotel, a city tour, an Airbus production plant tour and tickets to the Miniatur Wunderland model railway exhibition and the Prototype Automotive Museum.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages added Hamburg to its destinations this year, first calling with Columbus in June. Next year the ship will return for another three visits.

'The fact that we continue to welcome new operators to Hamburg outlines the attractiveness of Hamburg as a destination,' said Sacha Rougier, managing director, Cruise Gate Hamburg. She added British travelers particularly like the city's Christmas atmosphere and Christmas markets.

This concludes a very successful 2017 cruise season at Hamburg. Next year further growth is in sight, including nine maiden calls.
