Kay-Uwe Maroß departs Carnival Maritime

Kay-Uwe Maroß departs for pastures new; Karin Plettner heads up Carnival Maritime's port ops
After 24 years in the cruise sector, Kay-Uwe Maroß has left Carnival Maritime where he has been director of port operations for the past three years.

Prior to that he held various positions at AIDA Cruises, a company that he joined in 1994 and was closely involved in the project management for the cruise line's first newbuild and itinerary planning.

He started his career at Deutsche Seereederei in Rostock in 1990 after graduating in navigation.

Before taking the Carnival Maritime director position, Maroß was senior manager, destination development for AIDA Cruises.

Plettner heads up port ops & experience

Assuming his areas of responsibility at the Hamburg based marine service unit for Costa Group is Karin Plettner, head of port operations & experience, responsible for both AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruise brands.

LNG-powered AIDAnova arriving soon

Her responsibilites also include active engagment with ports and governments in preparation for Carnival's next generation cruise vessels which start arriving with LNG-powered AIDAnova due for delivery in November.

Plettner joined Carnival Maritime in May 2017 from the Vancouver Port Authority where she oversaw cruise business development, strategic terminal infrastructure and operations optimization projects.

She has over 10 years of international experience in a variety of roles across multiple industries and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration.
