Landry & Kling propose ships for hurricane relief housing

Even though their Miami office was temporarily closed after Hurricane Irma, seasoned cruise ship charterers Landry & Kling have been able to assist a new client with an urgent request for hurricane-relief housing and are offering their services to help others.

'Our research for that client found a suitable vessel, and also turned up a few other ships that could be deployed immediately,' said Joyce Landry, CEO, Landry & Kling Global Cruise Events. 'Our industry contacts extend beyond the main cruise line brands—including ships that are not currently in regularly scheduled service—so they can serve as dockside housing with meals and recreation facilities under the same roof, at an affordable price.'

These ships, Landry continued, could be a welcome solution for companies looking for hard-to-find hotel accommodations in the Caribbean islands for insurance adjusters, clean-up crews, construction teams, medical professionals and others.

Such charters may be a way to facilitate relief services and recovery efforts in St Thomas, St Maarten, Barbuda and other devastated areas.

In business for 25 years, Landry & Kling have experience with this type of situation, having assisted the Federal Emergency Management Agency with securing a cruise ship charter for a critical, six-month Hurricane Katrina relief mission in the Gulf of Mexico in 2005.
