Marriott veteran will join Carnival as svp hotel operations

Carnival Cruise Line has hired a 36-year veteran of Marriott International as svp hotel operations. Richard Morse will join Carnival on Jan. 11, reporting to Gus Antorcha, evp guest shipboard operations.

Morse will be responsible for entertainment, culinary and dining, beverage, housekeeping, and guest services and logistics. 'His wide-ranging experience, outstanding management skills and commitment to innovation will be of great benefit,' Antorcha said.

At Marriott, Morse most recently served as gm of Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at the National Harbor in Maryland.

In addition to on-property experience, which included management positions at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square and the Renaissance Miami Biscayne properties, Morse was regional vp of Renaissance Hotels for the eastern US and area vp for Marriott’s Select Service and Extended Stay properties in the eastern US.

Morse holds a bachelor's degree in hotel administration from Cornell University.
