Over 300 cruise ships call at Valletta's Grand Harbour annually
Valletta, the designated European Capital of Culture for 2018, comes under the cruise spotlight again next week as cruise line representatives from more than ten brands and representatives from Mediterranean ports and destinations are headed to Malta for the 52nd MedCruise General Assembly.

Taking place between May 23-26, 2018 and organized by MedCruise, the Association of cruise ports in the Mediterranean and its adjoining seas, the event will bring together over 120 attendees to discuss the latest developments in the cruise sector, as well as the implications and prospects of cruising in the Mediterranean and its adjoining seas.

Participants include: AIDA’s Gerhard Lübbren; Carnival Corp & plc’s Michel Nestour and Tom Strang; Carnival Maritime’s Karin Plettner; Carnival Cruise Lines’ Ugo Savino; Celestyal Cruises’ Capt. Vassilios Gazikas; Costa Cruises’ Federico Bartoli; MSC Cruises’ Capt. Luigi Pastena; Holland America Group’s Bill Sharp; Pullmantur’s Javier Marín; Royal Caribbean Cruises’Ana Karina Santini; Silversea Cruises’ Frederique Patry, and Virgin Voyages’ Craig Milan.

Valletta Cruise Port, a subsidiary of Global Ports Holding, is fresh from celebrating its fifteen anniversary and is projecting another busy year, having closed 2017 with over 770,000 passenger movements aboard 342 calls.

May is proving to be a month of highlights in Valletta’s cruise 2018 calendar with its grand baroque harbour playing backdrop to the naming of Seabourn Ovation last week.

The Mediterranean and its adjoining seas come under the spotlight again in September when Seatrade Cruise Med 2018 is held in Lisbon, Portugal where MedCruise is the principal sponsor.
