New book celebrates The Story of Cunard's 175 years

New book celebrates The Story of Cunard's 175 years

The Duke of Edinburgh has penned a foreword in a new book celebrating Cunard’s 175th anniversary written by Cunard public relation guru’s Eric Flounders (now retired) and Michael Gallagher.

The Duke writes, ‘This story begins with the Novia Scotian, Samuel Cunard and it covers the development and apogee of the trans-Atlantic passenger trade.’

He goes on to say, ‘it pays appropriate tribute to the managers, ship designers engineers and shipbuilders who together achieved quite remarkable technical advances in the design and management of great trans-Atlantic ocean liners.

The 240 page hard back book has an amazing collection of images and ephemera spanning the company's heritage dating back to 1839 and the hundreds of ships since then that have flown the Cunard flag. It also follows many of the celebrities and film stars who have been associated with Cunard. The book retails at £24.50.
