NTSB seeks a director of maritime safety

NTSB seeks a director of maritime safety

The National Transportation Safety Board, an independent US federal agency responsible for investigating significant accidents in various modes of transportation, seeks a director for its Office of Marine Safety.

The office investigates major marine casualties that occur in the US or involve US-flag vessels anywhere in the world. It formulates recommendations to minimize recurrence of similar accidents and prepares detailed reports for use by other international and domestic government agencies, Congress, the transportation community and the traveling public.

The office also investigates selected marine accidents involving safety issues of concern to the NTSB and improves public safety by advocating changes to international and domestic laws, regulations, standards, policies, practices and systems. Further, it directs the conduct of NTSB public hearings, forums and symposiums on marine safety.

The director job reports to the managing director.
