Oceana withdrawn from Dubai and Arabian Gulf programme
Rising tensions in the Gulf have caused P&O Cruises to cancel its planned Dubai and Arabian Gulf programme from October 2019-March 2020.

Fears caused by attacks on tankers in the Straits of Hormuz and the detention of Stena Impero, a British-flagged tanker by the Iranian authorities, have sparked the reaction.

‘As a British company flying the red ensign it is not advisable for us to maintain our planned Dubai and Arabian Gulf programme this winter season,’ P&O Cruises President Paul Ludlow said.

He called it ‘a difficult decision’.

Full refund and new ex-UK programme

All bookings for P&O Cruises’ Oceana will be cancelled and passengers will get a full refund.

A new winter 2019/20 programme for Oceana will go on sale August 20, including departures from Southampton sailing to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, as well as a pre-Christmas 35-night cruise to the Caribbean.

The cruise line’s Arabian Gulf ex-UK fly-cruise programme was a new introduction which debuted in January-April 2019.
